Who swapped the vase's roses for dandelions?
Free to play this week.
Play Daily #27About this case
For Daily #27, the family is in the dining room, on a 6 × 5 board with one short wall inside. Sunday lunch happens here, and so does every debate about who gets the last roast potato. This is the second daily case in the dining room. Four of the Fibbersons were there: Dad, the Kid, Grandma and Rex. One of them is fibbing. Everyone wants to know: Who swapped the vase's roses for dandelions? What they say is about the plant, the clock, the vase and the cookie jar, and about each other. Try them in different squares of the dining room until only one story can’t be made to fit.

In the room
- Plant tall
- Clock tall
- Cabinet tall
- Long table low
- Vase low
- Cookie jar low
Tall here: the plant, the clock and the cabinet. Tall things block every view, though not Rex’s nose. Down at the Kid’s height there are the long table, the vase and the cookie jar, low enough for Dad and Grandma to see over.
How they see in here
Dad looks straight along his row and column; on this board that’s 6 squares across and 5 down, unless a wall or something tall stops him.
The Kid is the shortest of the family: in the dining room, everything low blocks his view as well as everything tall.
Grandma sees two squares in every direction, diagonals too, and walls and tall things stop her.
Rex the dog goes by his nose. He smells the eight squares next to him, and nothing in the dining room blocks a smell.
Every rule, with pictures, is in How to play.
A tip for this room
Rex’s nose is the shortest reach in the house: anything he smelled was right next to him. That leaves few squares to try.
